TRAINER'S EYE #85 - "Fairy Pokemon & Fairy Tales" ft. Lokemon

TRAINER'S EYE #85 -

In this Pokemon interview, we are joined by Lokemon, a Pokemon Trainer from Chicago, Illinois who creates fake Pokemon using digital art.

Lokemon shares his first experience with Pokemon starting with the anime and video games. Pokemon was used as an escape for him to keep him company while both his parents were busy. Pokemon has been a main source of peace and one of his biggest passions in life.

Lokemon shares how his imagination led him to create fake Pokemon and imaginary Pokemon regions. Lokemon enjoys creating a space for himself and others to dive into, especially when Pokemon caters to a different audience. Lokemon shares some of his created Pokemon like a root beer float Pokemon that is also a bear!

Finally, both Lokemon and I do a world building exercise where we create our own gyms and Elite Four members. Listen to what we create on the spot as we tag team creating a region together!

00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:03.500
My name is David Hernandez, and you're listening to As the Pokeball Turns.

00:00:44.015 --> 00:00:46.465
Welcome to As the Pokeball Turns.

00:00:46.777 --> 00:00:52.917
Our journey takes us to Chicago, where we meet a Pokemon trainer who creates fake Pokemon through digital art.

00:00:53.219 --> 00:00:59.283
We have all imagined fake Pokemon, such as regular Pokemon, or even different forms and Mega Evolutions.

00:00:59.595 --> 00:01:06.855
For example, you may imagine a Mega Flygon, a normal type Eeveelution, or maybe you're like me and imagine a new Whale Pokemon.

00:01:07.162 --> 00:01:14.995
My guest brings his ideas for fake Pokemon to life, such as a root beer Pokemon that is a bear, or an armadillo made out of armor.

00:01:15.314 --> 00:01:22.343
His imagination stems from his deep love for Pokemon from the anime, the main series games, and even Pokemon Go.

00:01:22.620 --> 00:01:25.129
Here is his origin story into the world of Pokemon.

00:01:25.436 --> 00:01:32.263
This is Lokemon! Today, I'm joined by an artist who loves to create fake Pokemon.

00:01:32.784 --> 00:01:34.623
Lokomon, welcome to the show.

00:01:35.243 --> 00:01:36.534
Hi, thank you for having me.

00:01:37.159 --> 00:01:40.290
Without a doubt, and unfortunately, you know, I'm not a video podcast.

00:01:40.344 --> 00:01:45.667
But I love how much, you kind of dived into your character a little bit, because you had the three hats going, the pink and blue getup.

00:01:45.677 --> 00:01:47.507
Is that kind of like a character you made yourself?

00:01:48.132 --> 00:01:51.109
so what happened was it originally, for actually a party.

00:01:51.414 --> 00:01:54.394
my sister had a birthday party and she wanted an Alice in Wonderland thing.

00:01:54.713 --> 00:01:57.513
Well, I tend to take a lot of things into my own hands.

00:01:57.603 --> 00:01:59.853
I thought, what if I went pastel instead?

00:02:00.093 --> 00:02:08.466
Eventually the, this particular getup grew into its own character persona, mixing some of my loves of magical girl precursors in particular in Pokemon.

00:02:08.765 --> 00:02:11.635
So whenever somebody asks me to do an event, I particularly.

00:02:12.566 --> 00:02:15.165
outfit is like my go to outfit for said event.

00:02:15.469 --> 00:02:19.039
And I believe it looks similar to the character you have on your banner on Twitter, right?

00:02:19.069 --> 00:02:20.289
Is that kind of the same thing?

00:02:20.610 --> 00:02:21.250
exactly.

00:02:21.259 --> 00:02:21.979
Precisely that.

00:02:22.286 --> 00:02:26.425
So would you kind of wear that get up if you were like a gym leader or elite four member just out of curiosity?

00:02:26.776 --> 00:02:27.116
Um, yes.

00:02:27.116 --> 00:02:29.575
I think that's like my, um, fairy type elite for get up.

00:02:29.586 --> 00:02:46.265
That was some, something that I'm also, I worked on like recently, I made a, basically a fairy type team using the Scarlet and Violet Pokemon, which incredibly is a hard work when you work with limited stuff, but I'm actually really good at the game, so I'm pretty confident in my abilities, but yeah, I like to think that's like my Pokemon champion, fairy type extraordinaire.

00:02:46.610 --> 00:02:48.650
Oh, so we'd love to ask a question.

00:02:48.650 --> 00:02:49.930
I'm going to go ahead and start with this question.

00:02:50.219 --> 00:02:53.430
I always would like to ask certain guests about what their team would be.

00:02:53.460 --> 00:02:59.110
So since you say you're going to be like a fairy type champion, what six Pokemon would you choose to be on your team?

00:02:59.713 --> 00:03:13.700
So I modeled my team actually after a distract of Synthia's and in a singles format and standard format, first line up Mimikyu, I have the setup strategy where I have it placed in as a we go together type thing.

00:03:13.730 --> 00:03:17.290
It's meant to stall, waste time, take out its opponent with it.

00:03:17.610 --> 00:03:19.360
And where down the team overall.

00:03:19.661 --> 00:03:29.414
Secondly, Scream Tail, I was very fascinated by its overall tankiness my next bet I am a big fan of the fairy dragon type mega Altaria.

00:03:29.741 --> 00:03:38.610
I, it is a crime that they, we've had it one time on a temporary basis and it was snatched away from me, but a fairy and dragon type is such an iconic mixture.

00:03:38.991 --> 00:03:41.181
Definitely something worth keeping around.

00:03:41.677 --> 00:03:48.418
another Pokemon that I really am fond of or typing, is the Fairy-Steel type.

00:03:48.715 --> 00:03:51.185
It's a pretty literally solid solid type.

00:03:51.185 --> 00:03:56.004
No pun intended i'd have to go with Magearna probably because I just like the origin of it.

00:03:56.014 --> 00:04:08.375
It's really like Personally fits my character overall the pokemon that's meant to help care and heal others if I wasn't running a mega Altaria, I'd also like an Audino, but, for keeping things consistently.

00:04:08.585 --> 00:04:09.365
Iron Valiant.

00:04:09.495 --> 00:04:11.025
Iron Valiant is pretty cool.

00:04:11.324 --> 00:04:17.764
it kind of reminds me of X Train Knight from my life as a teenage robot, but I like the idea of a fairy fighting type.

00:04:18.071 --> 00:04:27.247
I really do wish we can, like, reach further and start, like, designing Pokemon that are, like, magical girls because they fight, like, Dragon Ball Z characters.

00:04:27.247 --> 00:04:28.497
They fight, that's what they do.

00:04:28.798 --> 00:04:33.898
And so, a chance to expand on what a fairy actually is.

00:04:34.507 --> 00:04:34.937
one more.

00:04:34.997 --> 00:04:42.987
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, probably, I'm like Zamazenta, Zamazenta, like, it's just a very impactful Pokemon.

00:04:42.997 --> 00:04:46.836
Legendary Pokemon, it's a fairy type, honestly, and it's a dog with a sword.

00:04:46.836 --> 00:04:47.747
What more could you want?

00:04:48.439 --> 00:04:50.189
Zacian, Zacian, not Zamazenta,

00:04:51.100 --> 00:04:52.649
would you use the, uh, what is it called?

00:04:52.649 --> 00:04:54.939
The hero's form, or would you use the base form?

00:04:55.290 --> 00:04:56.550
Gotta use the hero's form.

00:04:56.560 --> 00:04:58.329
It's, it's a state, it's a statement piece.

00:04:58.584 --> 00:04:59.295
Oh yeah, of course.

00:04:59.305 --> 00:05:00.584
You can't have it without the sword.

00:05:00.584 --> 00:05:04.144
Although, it's weird looking at it as a naked, uh, without its armor.

00:05:04.144 --> 00:05:04.944
It's weird.

00:05:05.129 --> 00:05:05.769
I'm not going to lie.

00:05:05.769 --> 00:05:07.660
It does kind of like, I say, who are you?

00:05:09.115 --> 00:05:09.894
Do I know you?

00:05:10.307 --> 00:05:11.666
reskin dog?

00:05:11.677 --> 00:05:12.687
It's so strange.

00:05:13.262 --> 00:05:15.213
So, let's break off the fairy chains.

00:05:15.252 --> 00:05:19.322
What would be six Pokemon just for champion battle, whatever Pokemon, no limits?

00:05:19.658 --> 00:05:19.958
Okay.

00:05:19.990 --> 00:05:20.521
you're doing that.

00:05:20.521 --> 00:05:23.201
Let's do, you know, I'm going to, I'm not going to pick fairy types for this.

00:05:23.271 --> 00:05:26.740
I'm not going to try my heart is not to, which is hard.

00:05:26.956 --> 00:05:27.545
are you okay?

00:05:27.545 --> 00:05:29.896
Like, you know, you're saying no to fairy types, that's kinda

00:05:30.646 --> 00:05:36.062
I know it's kind of, I might, maybe I'll do one, but another thing that I'm really big about is, team balancing.

00:05:36.360 --> 00:05:40.209
as much as I love monotypes kind of make me sick at the same time.

00:05:40.209 --> 00:05:42.860
Cause it's like I mixing Pokemon together.

00:05:43.182 --> 00:05:45.161
I'll probably use one fairy type because I didn't mention it before.

00:05:45.161 --> 00:05:53.701
I'll use one, but it's, the idea is that I strive for harmony, harmony in battles and everything like that.

00:05:54.091 --> 00:06:01.557
so for starters, a Pokemon that I've been like, really, really, really fond of isn't a fairy type is gold and go, or Google didn't go.

00:06:01.577 --> 00:06:12.083
I really love the gimmick of the coins, but it's overall ability, making it immune to status moves and it's technical prowess it's a really fun mod.

00:06:12.093 --> 00:06:14.362
A lot of people, it's a hit or miss for a lot of people.

00:06:14.653 --> 00:06:18.382
It's just a funky little coin dude, shining and sparkling all time.

00:06:18.392 --> 00:06:19.802
It's like, how can you not love it?

00:06:20.083 --> 00:06:22.942
And like, something's like, I like to think of it, it's like, a, a coin mech.

00:06:23.492 --> 00:06:25.733
And so, it's a little gimme rule inside.

00:06:26.072 --> 00:06:27.723
And it's just a mech of coins.

00:06:28.026 --> 00:06:30.466
You know, that's a very interesting way to think about it.

00:06:30.466 --> 00:06:31.721
I never thought about it.

00:06:31.721 --> 00:06:33.456
Because it actually is a mech, really.

00:06:33.495 --> 00:06:35.125
Because it's a gimmick going inside of a golden.

00:06:35.516 --> 00:06:36.146
My god.

00:06:36.716 --> 00:06:37.446
It's a mech.

00:06:37.600 --> 00:06:38.980
how can you not like that?

00:06:39.324 --> 00:06:40.535
it's a brilliant concept.

00:06:40.918 --> 00:06:41.968
Brilliant concept.

00:06:41.968 --> 00:06:44.408
Excellent ability.

00:06:44.788 --> 00:06:45.557
Otherworldly.

00:06:45.877 --> 00:06:46.697
Fantastic.

00:06:47.257 --> 00:06:47.978
let's see here.

00:06:48.000 --> 00:06:55.848
Another type of Pokemon that I've been pretty acquainted with for over the years that honestly I go down with, Milotic.

00:06:56.158 --> 00:06:57.278
I

00:06:57.413 --> 00:06:57.882
yes.

00:06:58.237 --> 00:07:04.975
remember, Shiny hunting in a Pokemon Go and waiting like several years to transfer it when the connectivity finally happened.

00:07:05.334 --> 00:07:07.194
And so it was like, my time has come.

00:07:07.404 --> 00:07:08.584
The moment is here.

00:07:08.908 --> 00:07:21.187
And the defensive ability, Marvel scale, beautiful ability, getting more on the attack phase in terms of like suede or legendaries, I always like to add like a suede or legendary within the mix of my teams.

00:07:21.617 --> 00:07:25.557
And recently I been growing an affinity for, dragapult.

00:07:26.040 --> 00:07:27.680
Dragapult speed.

00:07:27.689 --> 00:07:28.500
It's pretty fun.

00:07:28.562 --> 00:07:29.423
little gimmicky guy.

00:07:29.423 --> 00:07:31.583
Like, I can fire little dudes at you.

00:07:32.386 --> 00:07:34.706
What more could you want?

00:07:34.898 --> 00:07:35.408
That's true,

00:07:35.682 --> 00:07:38.093
I'm gonna fight your little dude with these little dudes.

00:07:38.781 --> 00:07:39.081
You got

00:07:39.156 --> 00:07:40.716
dude, little dude launcher.

00:07:41.170 --> 00:07:41.901
little dude launcher.

00:07:43.391 --> 00:07:46.240
Uh, are they actual Dragon Balls or are they just like spirits?

00:07:46.466 --> 00:07:48.235
Um, I believe they're Dreepies.

00:07:48.406 --> 00:07:49.295
And so it's shooting.

00:07:49.295 --> 00:07:54.163
it's children's like what better way to defend against the enemy of throwing your children.

00:07:54.767 --> 00:07:59.987
You know, here's what Game Freak, somebody thought of Game What if we had Kangaskhan, but they threw the baby instead?

00:08:00.017 --> 00:08:01.358
That's where the idea came from, I

00:08:01.583 --> 00:08:07.273
Oh my goodness Yeah Fire the children

00:08:07.502 --> 00:08:09.033
Fire the, fire the chill.

00:08:09.432 --> 00:08:10.653
Deploy the children.

00:08:11.062 --> 00:08:13.302
It's like a stand user only your stand as a child

00:08:13.622 --> 00:08:14.742
Yes, there you go.

00:08:15.100 --> 00:08:15.949
Uh, three more.

00:08:15.980 --> 00:08:16.670
We got three more.

00:08:16.860 --> 00:08:17.209
three more.

00:08:17.240 --> 00:08:35.792
Okay, so i've done defensive Special defensive physical and and speed So think about me is like I have a hard time picking your favorite pokemon because I love All of them like this is legit like my biggest struggle in the world in life But you know, i'm gonna break the fairy rule for this one probably fluttermane.

00:08:36.119 --> 00:08:38.000
it's such a fantastic mod I named it.

00:08:38.000 --> 00:08:45.751
enchantix from like the wink show because that's what it kind of gives me But it's just an overall powerhouse Nothing to really complain about it.

00:08:46.369 --> 00:08:49.173
Um, my next probably gastronom,

00:08:49.467 --> 00:08:50.357
Ooh, that's interesting.

00:08:50.648 --> 00:08:53.967
I love gastronom with my heart and soul.

00:08:54.278 --> 00:08:55.888
I love it's sustainability.

00:08:55.927 --> 00:08:57.057
It's recoverability.

00:08:57.528 --> 00:09:02.495
It's, actually is supporting me a long time for a couple of my battles as well.

00:09:02.832 --> 00:09:06.613
I'm a big fan of like recovery moves, especially moves like recover.

00:09:06.946 --> 00:09:13.721
So when something's around just to stay around for a bit, even the playing field out, it also is a great mod for, supporting teammates as well.

00:09:14.322 --> 00:09:16.152
do you have a preference on the blue or the pink one?

00:09:16.866 --> 00:09:18.027
Um, my favorite color is pink.

00:09:18.037 --> 00:09:19.677
So it's always been pink for me.

00:09:19.912 --> 00:09:20.292
that's fair.

00:09:20.392 --> 00:09:21.542
I always prefer the pink one as well.

00:09:21.562 --> 00:09:23.672
Whenever I see the blue one, it just looks kind of odd.

00:09:23.731 --> 00:09:24.402
I don't know what it is.

00:09:24.402 --> 00:09:25.631
I just don't care for it too much.

00:09:25.836 --> 00:09:26.136
The thing.

00:09:26.136 --> 00:09:28.236
Well, like the she shells.

00:09:28.297 --> 00:09:30.277
I prefer the blue shells over the pink one.

00:09:30.607 --> 00:09:31.528
Is it because of the ears?

00:09:31.528 --> 00:09:32.205
Mm

00:09:32.488 --> 00:09:32.758
so.

00:09:32.758 --> 00:09:33.207
I think so.

00:09:33.207 --> 00:09:43.075
I just like the white and it just more appealing to me, but also because I played Pokemon Pearl, I didn't get Diamond, so like much later and so was like, I always envy the blues.

00:09:43.075 --> 00:09:44.394
That's the one I watched.

00:09:45.004 --> 00:09:45.575
Give it to me.

00:09:47.134 --> 00:09:47.705
never have it.

00:09:48.038 --> 00:09:49.568
Wait, did they separate those in those games?

00:09:49.568 --> 00:09:49.778
I can't

00:09:49.953 --> 00:09:51.149
I I thought they did.

00:09:51.164 --> 00:09:52.095
because I can never find it.

00:09:55.215 --> 00:09:55.794
Right.

00:09:56.105 --> 00:09:58.086
I had Pearl 2 and I always had the pink one as well.

00:09:58.384 --> 00:09:59.504
Yeah, childhood envy.

00:09:59.514 --> 00:10:02.514
Eventually I got a hold of diamond, but then like I never like play through it.

00:10:02.644 --> 00:10:03.154
I do.

00:10:03.154 --> 00:10:07.446
I could probably do it in BDSP, but you know, if we've gone past that point in our life,

00:10:09.081 --> 00:10:09.600
Right.

00:10:09.761 --> 00:10:10.792
one more.

00:10:10.812 --> 00:10:13.350
I'm thinking Probably E electros.

00:10:13.777 --> 00:10:22.037
I like the idea of basically having no weakness, so it's always just a safe Pokémon to put down, minus the existence of like Mole Breaker.

00:10:22.360 --> 00:10:25.519
Extremely Fun Pong, when I first saw it, I'm like, oh, it's Electrotype.

00:10:25.559 --> 00:10:26.080
Oh, it's Levitate.

00:10:26.340 --> 00:10:27.649
Oh, it's one of my faves.

00:10:27.659 --> 00:10:28.720
It's one of the besties.

00:10:29.032 --> 00:10:29.871
Whoa.

00:10:30.126 --> 00:10:35.912
to like mix, switch, going to battle without fear, surprise switches and it's great, honestly.

00:10:36.523 --> 00:10:41.182
Yeah, that was one of the ones I used in Black and White when it first debuted, because that was its debut generation, right?

00:10:42.158 --> 00:10:43.158
I just like this design.

00:10:43.158 --> 00:10:43.948
It's a very good one.

00:10:43.948 --> 00:10:47.198
You would think it's a water type, but it actually looks cool as an electric type, to be honest.

00:10:47.724 --> 00:10:50.938
a, and that's the thing I like about like certain Pokemon, like sun for example.

00:10:50.938 --> 00:10:55.408
It's that Pokemon that have a habitat that is contrary to their entire typing.

00:10:55.720 --> 00:10:58.570
Oh, so you prefer that kind of paradox to where it doesn't match up?

00:10:58.960 --> 00:11:00.309
It's fun because it's like.

00:11:00.571 --> 00:11:05.926
It's like actual animals is the animals sharing ecosystem, Pokemon sharing ecosystem.

00:11:06.135 --> 00:11:09.566
And of course, they're going to be type advantages, but it's also going to be tight harmonies.

00:11:09.855 --> 00:11:16.566
And you can find out that which ones are like actual predators of the area, which ones are the more defensive types.

00:11:16.886 --> 00:11:23.614
The science behind Pokemon is extremely fantastic and I like the way they talk about, habitats and ecosystems of these Pokemon, the science and the biology.

00:11:23.844 --> 00:11:25.840
I wrote a biology paper in college, actually.

00:11:25.850 --> 00:11:26.750
It was, um,

00:11:26.970 --> 00:11:27.440
Pokemon?

00:11:27.649 --> 00:11:28.679
yes, precisely.

00:11:28.700 --> 00:11:35.355
It the theory of Pokemon's relatively existence and how much of a crossover is in, like, the real world.

00:11:35.546 --> 00:11:37.275
And so it took Bulbasaur, for example, on an Anima and also a Plantae Pokemon.

00:11:37.275 --> 00:11:49.726
And so it took Bulbasaur, for example, on an Anima and also a Plantae And took the qualities of how would it have been able to sustain itself with photosynthesis as well as actually using an actual diet of other animals or plant, depending on its diet.

00:11:50.019 --> 00:11:52.320
And harmonious with its photosynthesis

00:11:52.597 --> 00:11:53.668
that is so interesting.

00:11:53.748 --> 00:11:55.008
So it was just strictly about Bulbasaur.

00:11:55.008 --> 00:11:56.077
Or do you use other Pokemon

00:11:56.177 --> 00:12:05.018
Um, I use the Pokemon as an example, but this is particularly highlighting Bulbasaur mostly because it's like, okay You gotta pick a Pokemon that everybody knows everyone can relate to this one So you gotta start at Gen 1.

00:12:05.398 --> 00:12:11.418
Gen 1 is a lot of people's origin story and they're all more likely to recognize that before anything else

00:12:12.256 --> 00:12:14.267
So whenever a Pokemon is introduced, right.

00:12:14.326 --> 00:12:24.028
And whether it's a generation or a set of games, Do you try to kind of uncover like how that Pokemon fits in that ecosystem of that region, or how far does this kind of detail go with you?

00:12:24.442 --> 00:12:25.393
it varies and depends.

00:12:25.706 --> 00:12:27.326
first, I like, I take the game at face value.

00:12:27.376 --> 00:12:30.726
Like, I get to take the game and like, it's like my first game I've ever played.

00:12:31.017 --> 00:12:36.197
I like the idea of holding a fresh perspective, then after I've experienced the world for a bit, okay.

00:12:36.667 --> 00:12:39.687
Now, let's revisit, but let's go a little deeper into these things.

00:12:40.057 --> 00:12:47.596
So in Pokemon are introduced, I like to look at not just their habitats, but the origin of the Pokemon and design existence.

00:12:47.636 --> 00:12:50.496
So what inspired this Pokemon to be created?

00:12:50.767 --> 00:12:52.226
And what can I reference it to?

00:12:52.226 --> 00:12:55.226
Because then that lets me know what else can be connected with it.

00:12:55.764 --> 00:12:58.423
You have clearly a lot of experience with Pokemon.

00:12:58.443 --> 00:13:02.803
I was not expecting the whole biology part, which I appreciate you dropping that in, but let's take it back.

00:13:02.803 --> 00:13:04.283
Let's start to when it first began.

00:13:04.283 --> 00:13:06.594
So what was your first experience with the franchise?

00:13:06.678 --> 00:13:06.979
Okay.

00:13:06.989 --> 00:13:19.110
So my first experience with the franchise, and I do remember this little fact, my experience with Pokemon came much later after it was like already released, I think Pokemon came into America in 1998, same year I was born.

00:13:19.488 --> 00:13:24.518
and so a lot of my exposure to Pokemon was in the Reruns and maybe like a movie.

00:13:24.557 --> 00:13:29.278
I do remember watching the Pokemon movie three with Entei and the unknown.

00:13:29.624 --> 00:13:30.964
It was in a little DVD.

00:13:31.063 --> 00:13:33.844
I also got it with a Sailor Moon movie and it was back to back.

00:13:33.854 --> 00:13:37.894
It was Sailor Moon Pokemon, Sailor Moon Pokemon, Sailor Moon Pokemon, Sailor Moon Pokemon.

00:13:37.894 --> 00:13:41.783
Drove my absolutely nuts, absolutely nuts.

00:13:42.524 --> 00:13:50.582
And I don't think I started American like television shows or cartoons until like maybe somewhere in like the mid 2000s.

00:13:51.193 --> 00:14:00.073
And then I remember, there was a promotion of cereal that was kind of like Lucky Charms that came out with the Pokemon movie at some point because you know, Pokemon movie was a pretty, pretty, pretty big thing.

00:14:00.504 --> 00:14:02.024
And so, It was a Pichu in the cover.

00:14:02.024 --> 00:14:11.836
It was a Purple Lox, a Pichu in the cover, and it had like a different other Pokemon, I wish it was like Marshmallow, but it had a Pichu inside of the, little toy cereal box back when cereal was cool.

00:14:12.153 --> 00:14:15.388
and that Pichu basically went everywhere with me.

00:14:15.857 --> 00:14:18.057
That was like my ride or die companion.

00:14:18.107 --> 00:14:25.518
If I ever had to start with a partner Pokemon, Pichu was definitely the first, you know, Pikachu was like, everyone's like ride or die from the beginning.

00:14:25.528 --> 00:14:26.097
You started Pikachu.

00:14:26.807 --> 00:14:38.341
I started with Pichu and actually that's kind of why I have like my Pichu now is now an Alolan From way back, uh, yeah, brought it all the way through, but, that's where it particularly started.

00:14:38.370 --> 00:14:40.000
And then I do remember this one memory.

00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:43.506
I remember watching when Pokemon began to re air on cartoon network.

00:14:43.777 --> 00:14:45.657
And it started from the very first episode.

00:14:45.836 --> 00:14:47.456
I remember watching it the same day.

00:14:47.456 --> 00:14:48.777
My little sister was born.

00:14:48.787 --> 00:14:50.277
My parents were gone to the hospital.

00:14:50.427 --> 00:14:53.826
I was with my grandmother and I remember watching the first episode.

00:14:54.047 --> 00:14:59.745
I think it was that moment, but I'm like, you know, when you are a child and then your consciousness developed.

00:15:00.114 --> 00:15:01.254
That was my moment.

00:15:01.364 --> 00:15:02.604
That was my roman empire.

00:15:03.114 --> 00:15:34.573
That was the moment I Developed a brain cell pokemon made that happen and in the between parts of like watching the show my consciousness I did like have a game what color I still have it and then somewhere along the lines It might have been stolen, but I obtained pokemon yellow did not know what the heck I was doing couldn't even read but I was just happy to be I won't say it's my first game because I couldn't even get through with it like mentally I I didn't like re Throw myself back into the ring with the games up until, Pokemon diamond and pearl when it was like first introduced.

00:15:34.913 --> 00:15:41.660
And it was like, okay, I understand things now a little better in life and I'm able to process what's actually happening with me.

00:15:42.000 --> 00:15:46.961
And so now when I try to play the old game, it gets kind of iffy because it's like, wait, why, why is it like this?

00:15:47.110 --> 00:15:52.490
I'm so I've been spoiled, I will say, but Pokemon definitely started around that time.

00:15:52.490 --> 00:16:05.139
I didn't, have a lot of friends because, first child Problems with my parents and so like our world was kind of small and so my community itself was like small I didn't like have people I talked to I was always changing schools.

00:16:05.408 --> 00:16:16.546
It was a really turbulent point in my life so the only thing that was actually was consistent in my life was Pokemon and so it's become a Foundation for me and how I live my life.

00:16:17.158 --> 00:16:22.158
It sounds like Pokemon was kind of that safe haven for you while your whole life was kind of up in arms.

00:16:22.158 --> 00:16:25.519
It was a good escape but it sounded like Pokemon were almost kind of like the only friends you really had.

00:16:25.849 --> 00:16:26.729
was consistency.

00:16:26.899 --> 00:16:33.349
Yeah, it was my world like my mom was busy in school and she was also working like dead shifts My dad was always out of the house.

00:16:33.389 --> 00:16:43.725
I see him late at night The only thing that was really consistent was Pokemon my world has been shaped around So I can never imagine my world without Pokemon because it's always been my world.

00:16:44.214 --> 00:16:45.264
That's how it was for me too.

00:16:45.293 --> 00:16:47.394
'cause my mom and dad were always working too.

00:16:47.453 --> 00:16:54.551
So, you know, they had their own business, you know, and so I spent a lot of time alone and I always remember that I would try to, you remember the, you watched the anime too, right?

00:16:55.421 --> 00:17:01.301
Do you remember the scene to where, I think Ash and his Pokemon got trapped in some kind of blizzard and they had to take a refuge in a blizz, in a igloo.

00:17:01.645 --> 00:17:04.625
I do remember Pikachu refusing to go into the Pokeball.

00:17:04.905 --> 00:17:07.655
Yeah, and you know, they all circled around Ash.

00:17:08.365 --> 00:17:12.016
So, growing up, I'd always reenact that scene with my stuffed animals.

00:17:12.061 --> 00:17:16.241
Because I that kind of, I know it's kind of cheesy to think about, but I always just found very good

00:17:16.261 --> 00:17:18.531
think it's, it's it's a comfort thing.

00:17:18.892 --> 00:17:27.711
I, I, I do not diminish anybody's, relation when it comes to Pokemon, especially with like that source of comfort, like heck right now, my bed right now, it's literally a kingdom of plushies.

00:17:27.801 --> 00:17:33.122
I didn't get a lot of plushies as a kid, so we're reclaiming my time and obtaining a lot.

00:17:33.311 --> 00:17:34.461
I have so many.

00:17:34.481 --> 00:17:35.801
It's practically an army in here.

00:17:36.388 --> 00:17:39.098
Which Pokemon do you try to collect plushies of do you have like certain favorites?

00:17:39.098 --> 00:17:40.519
Are you trying to get one of each Pokemon?

00:17:40.694 --> 00:17:44.234
so I go to like small shops here and there so I'm not overdoing it.

00:17:44.365 --> 00:17:47.505
And so if I see a new one that the shop's never had before, it's immediately mine.

00:17:47.755 --> 00:17:48.375
Hands down.

00:17:48.394 --> 00:17:49.134
No question asked.

00:17:49.515 --> 00:17:54.164
Now, there is particular that I did actually recently obtain from, the Pokemon Center in New York.

00:17:54.164 --> 00:17:57.565
was a Meloetta, Push, Fleshy, both, Aria form and Purite form.

00:17:58.085 --> 00:17:59.484
so I am.

00:17:59.950 --> 00:18:05.339
Stoked about that one because Meloetta is also a Pokemon near and dear to my heart.

00:18:05.693 --> 00:18:07.794
this actually goes prior to Meloetta's existence.

00:18:07.794 --> 00:18:14.784
And so Diamond and Pearl, I was introduced to the anime, but it's also introduced to the concept of Pokemon coordinators.

00:18:15.156 --> 00:18:19.426
that was basically like my magical girl and my Pokemon in one bowl.

00:18:19.739 --> 00:18:27.449
Something that was new animation was different in the anime, like the contest battles were much more exciting for me than the other battles.

00:18:27.527 --> 00:18:29.866
of just how much of a spectacle they were.

00:18:30.473 --> 00:18:33.703
I always felt that Pokemon could have done more with the Pokemon coordinators.

00:18:33.753 --> 00:18:38.356
Cause my experience was with gen three initially, and I always felt like they could have expanded more.

00:18:38.356 --> 00:18:41.836
I kind of wish they did, but I guess it's just maybe too niched for them to do so.

00:18:42.297 --> 00:18:42.807
I don't know.

00:18:42.807 --> 00:18:53.527
I mean if Pokemon Masters EXing created a game with these trainers with their fancy costumes that matched their pokemon I don't see an excuse personally, but that's that's just me.

00:18:53.630 --> 00:19:05.589
but what happened was is that like I got to a time where like I have this thing where I'm maladaptive daydream And I have like a really Overreactive imagination helps me with a lot of creative things also hinders me when I'm trying to focus on things.

00:19:05.859 --> 00:19:08.203
So, you know, two coins, heads or tails, take your pick.

00:19:08.513 --> 00:19:14.307
But, I would always imagine myself on a stage as a coordinator and seeing Meloetta for the first time.

00:19:14.307 --> 00:19:15.636
I'm like, that is.

00:19:15.714 --> 00:19:22.332
The coordinator's Pokemon, the singing, the dancing, it was everything because I do sing on the side as well.

00:19:22.612 --> 00:19:23.721
Some of the things I like to do.

00:19:23.791 --> 00:19:25.872
And so it was just having a Pokemon like that.

00:19:25.872 --> 00:19:27.122
I was like, it's here.

00:19:27.301 --> 00:19:28.071
It's amazing.

00:19:28.365 --> 00:19:29.134
It's fantastic.

00:19:29.365 --> 00:19:31.825
This was prior to fairy types actually existing.

00:19:32.144 --> 00:19:34.944
I was, always like hopping from my Pokemon to Pokemon.

00:19:34.944 --> 00:19:36.295
Like what was, what's my Pokemon?

00:19:36.565 --> 00:19:37.795
What's the Pokemon for me?

00:19:37.795 --> 00:19:40.525
And it couldn't quite like fit myself into like a bubble.

00:19:40.525 --> 00:19:42.394
Like some people were like, Oh, I like fire.

00:19:42.394 --> 00:19:43.154
Oh, like water.

00:19:43.154 --> 00:19:43.798
Oh, I just.

00:19:44.082 --> 00:19:48.642
I'll float around and gen six rolled around with the fairies and I was like, I'm home

00:19:48.959 --> 00:19:50.209
Is gen six, your favorite region?

00:19:50.628 --> 00:20:06.692
no gen six is not my favorite region But it is the probably one of the most impactful for what it was it started it started an influential thing for me Gen five will always probably be my favorite just because of like That's when I really got serious about Pokemon, like super serious.

00:20:06.692 --> 00:20:13.251
I went from like just being casual to like, okay I need to consume more, I need to be more, I need to do more and it just felt right.

00:20:13.628 --> 00:20:14.608
Let's talk about the switch.

00:20:14.608 --> 00:20:18.204
So how did you treat gen five differently compared to say, maybe a gen four,

00:20:18.521 --> 00:20:23.672
Gen 4, I was honestly, it took me a while to be, took me some time.

00:20:23.872 --> 00:20:33.692
Not because it was hard But because like my interests were just like fluctuating during the time and so I wasn't consistently With the game, but the anime, I was always there.

00:20:34.092 --> 00:20:41.765
Anime always have more than the game I think it's also due to the fact that I had to arc, Pokemon episodes because they were no longer in network.

00:20:41.815 --> 00:20:47.755
And that's when I began starting to, learn Japanese through Pokemon as well, because yeah.

00:20:47.954 --> 00:20:51.884
So when people were talking about my Oshawa, I'm like, who the heck is that?

00:20:51.974 --> 00:20:52.914
I know me, Jamaru.

00:20:53.775 --> 00:20:54.394
Poke a boo.

00:20:54.689 --> 00:20:54.969
What?

00:20:55.489 --> 00:20:55.769
Wow.

00:20:55.769 --> 00:20:57.689
So you learned Japanese because of the Pokemon anime.

00:20:57.939 --> 00:20:59.318
Yes, it started through there.

00:20:59.644 --> 00:21:18.910
And so i'm still learning because like it kind of was like me learning it like a very boonie ish kind of feeling So like i'm trying to get my sentence structures together But that is where it started like I have to be able to enjoy this So need to be able to understand what is happening because sometimes there were episodes that were rolled out didn't have subtitles I'm, like no we're gonna figure

00:21:19.250 --> 00:21:22.855
So, would you just listen to an episode over and over and trying to pick out like key?

00:21:22.855 --> 00:21:24.816
Like he can help me understand like how this would work.

00:21:24.816 --> 00:21:26.516
So say like episode comes out.

00:21:27.105 --> 00:21:30.945
It's in Japanese, so how would you kind of translate it to understand it?

00:21:31.313 --> 00:21:41.323
Honestly, just trying to watch it over and over and over Listening for words like I hear a lot because you know, like children's shows like thankfully pokemon is um, the show genre kodomo kodomo.

00:21:41.640 --> 00:21:54.113
That's a shortened for it for it, but it's Genre towards little kids and so the dialect and those shows are typically consistent You use the same words over and over and over and it's always easy.

00:21:54.113 --> 00:21:56.280
So I picked a good place to start.

00:21:56.819 --> 00:21:58.140
First off, this is crazy.

00:21:58.140 --> 00:21:59.380
This is what I love about Pokemon.

00:21:59.650 --> 00:22:04.259
Where else can you hear about a person saying they try to, learn Japanese because of Pokemon.

00:22:04.259 --> 00:22:05.079
This is great.

00:22:05.109 --> 00:22:05.819
I love it.

00:22:06.102 --> 00:22:07.201
My second question.

00:22:07.582 --> 00:22:09.122
So like you said, talked about the story.

00:22:09.122 --> 00:22:10.221
So what is it about the story?

00:22:10.221 --> 00:22:11.402
Gen five that you enjoyed?

00:22:11.938 --> 00:22:52.597
I think it was deeper cause the philosophy introduced, the philosophy of like Pokemon, even though it was all, a political scheme to, overthrow an entire nation, but it was just the fact that like, do Pokemon even want to be elected in a man, it just makes you think like, huh, It's a very real thing because like, currently I'm living in Chicago right now, currently they are going through an issue with a particular, situation with similar cult energy, like, organization and the tactics used in the game kind of make you realize they're relatively the same in real life where they will instill values in people and they use that to rise in the ranks of like control over a city.

00:22:52.917 --> 00:22:59.508
You wonder like how long have these factions been existing, but it was just like the story overall, the characters, the music.

00:22:59.847 --> 00:23:15.617
It was a lot more different and I don't think it's because of myself still being growing up but also like coming to terms with like Taking in stories instead of just playing for the sake of playing actually living within a world opposed to just being a spectator

00:23:16.251 --> 00:23:27.576
Yeah that's the one thing I appreciate about what gen five as well, because it challenged the basic concept around Pokemon, because we were always instilled with the values of Pokemon and trainers work together when it comes to Pokemon battling.

00:23:27.920 --> 00:23:34.170
With Team Plasma, they said, no, you're actually kind of enslaving the Pokemon and using it for wrongdoings.

00:23:34.557 --> 00:23:39.596
And I kind of like how you highlighted it from your own, place in Chicago, because that's kind of how cults work in a way.

00:23:40.297 --> 00:23:48.487
spare time, I like to check out, cults and documentaries and podcasts about them because I always found them kind of interesting because when you look from the outside in, it's like, how do you get involved in this?

00:23:48.803 --> 00:23:55.532
But then I think team plasma is a very good example to where they send you something that seems true but they add a little smudge that's not.

00:23:55.849 --> 00:23:59.859
And that's kind of how You start seeing their side, if that makes sense.

00:24:00.490 --> 00:24:01.329
how cults work.

00:24:01.484 --> 00:24:07.365
it's like if it makes sense to you eventually begin to convince yourself, okay, that makes sense I can see why in that perspective.

00:24:07.365 --> 00:24:10.107
It's like in stages versus understanding.

00:24:10.428 --> 00:24:12.548
What that purpose is and what their motive is.

00:24:12.637 --> 00:24:16.075
And then once you logic that to your brain, you would come to accept it.

00:24:16.335 --> 00:24:18.954
That's when things can get a lot of getting kind of dangerous.

00:24:19.599 --> 00:24:21.200
Like even just with us right.

00:24:21.518 --> 00:24:23.647
we can actually kind of understand where they're coming from.

00:24:23.647 --> 00:24:25.248
It's not like they're out of their minds.

00:24:25.538 --> 00:24:27.864
Ultimately they are, but we can kind of see where they're coming from.

00:24:27.864 --> 00:24:37.417
And it's just that small little sense of doubt that, you know, cults kind of feed off of, and then just add more and more on top of it to eventually, you know, you're wearing a white costume and a little gray, helmet, I think

00:24:38.107 --> 00:24:49.167
of course, when we went to the future now, though, is that as we've begun to learn more about Pokemon as a whole, it's just kind of crazy that we like learned so many years later that it's not the Pokeball that makes the Pokemon shrink.

00:24:49.188 --> 00:24:53.317
It's the Pokemon themselves, meaning that Pokemon have free will of their own.

00:24:53.428 --> 00:24:54.117
Always had it.

00:24:54.448 --> 00:24:55.688
There was never a question of it.

00:24:56.055 --> 00:24:56.634
exactly.

00:24:56.634 --> 00:24:58.484
But team plasma kind of made you question it.

00:24:58.484 --> 00:25:00.005
It's like, well, what if we really aren't.

00:25:00.005 --> 00:25:00.684
You know, working together.

00:25:00.684 --> 00:25:02.075
Cause you think of Psyduck from the anime.

00:25:02.295 --> 00:25:03.194
How many times did it pop up?

00:25:03.194 --> 00:25:03.894
It's Pokeball.

00:25:04.075 --> 00:25:10.891
And they used the only person who could actually communicate with Pokemon because humans couldn't communicate with communicate with Pokemon's the way that N could.

00:25:11.157 --> 00:25:15.948
And so that's what made him like the perfect, like spokesperson, this person, this person can speak about Pokemon.

00:25:16.178 --> 00:25:21.508
Therefore, whenever we make this person believe they have to believe it because he's the only one that can actually speak to Pokemon.

00:25:21.688 --> 00:25:21.958
Sure.

00:25:21.958 --> 00:25:30.107
You have like basic understanding of commands and so on and like learn behavior and Pavlovian experiences with your Pokemon, but have a full blown conversation with them.

00:25:30.404 --> 00:25:30.755
Yeah.

00:25:30.755 --> 00:25:40.355
cause outside of that, I mean, if we say just the video games, there's nobody, if you think of the Pokemon universe as a whole, you got Meowth, of course, and Team Rocket, but outside of that, you know, we don't understand Pokemon from their point of view,

00:25:40.651 --> 00:25:41.280
Precisely,

00:25:41.858 --> 00:25:44.220
anything else that you liked about, Black and White, Black and White 2?

00:25:44.515 --> 00:25:59.082
character diversity I'm a big fan of lenora and Clayton body type differences things like that even marlin and like, Alessa alessa, it's like, they all have like Something new to the franchise.

00:25:59.400 --> 00:26:02.426
Lenora, we don't have like actual like dark skin gym leaders.

00:26:02.436 --> 00:26:07.027
People have different complexions for the first time that are very much POC coded.

00:26:07.336 --> 00:26:11.766
But for the most part, when you think of the Pokemon art style, it gets kind of consistent across the board.

00:26:12.053 --> 00:26:15.923
and I remember that that was one of the things they wanted to expand upon with that region.

00:26:15.932 --> 00:26:19.776
They wanted this region to be as diverse as they could.

00:26:20.382 --> 00:26:23.832
since then, you know, what's been your favorite games to play after Gen 5?

00:26:24.428 --> 00:26:30.968
I typically don't replay a Pokemon without an ulterior motive, to be honest, because, I like the idea of like having, trying to get more Pokemon.

00:26:30.968 --> 00:26:31.968
I'm a shiny hunter as well.

00:26:31.998 --> 00:26:45.622
So, you know, I put my hands in many baskets, play Pokemon master CX regularly Pokemon go regularly, but I am a big fan of like the DLC and sword and shield because of the access to shiny Pokemon and legendaries that we haven't had before.

00:26:45.872 --> 00:26:53.122
Now I will say that my favorite character and sword and shield, when they introduced hop, I loved hop fantastic character and real.

00:26:53.729 --> 00:26:53.919
yeah.

00:26:53.919 --> 00:26:57.305
Cause hop, he was trying to live up to being a champion and trying to be the best.

00:26:57.375 --> 00:26:59.194
And he was always positive for most of that game, right?

00:26:59.194 --> 00:27:03.845
Exactly.

00:27:04.065 --> 00:27:17.872
of self identity like they tackled that great, honestly, and most people don't know what's annoying, but it's like, you're a real, this is like really an early teenager going through an identity crisis because that had a preexisting notion of that the world was going to be the way that it was.

00:27:18.071 --> 00:27:26.432
And I'm pretty sure a lot of people my age and around my age can understand like the world we live in is that we had a preexisting condition, how something was meant to be.

00:27:26.722 --> 00:27:28.093
And then we spiraled.

00:27:28.233 --> 00:27:35.114
When things didn't work out, like, Hey, I remember like, when I was, I was always told when I was in college, Oh, because you're smart, you're going to get all this, you're going to get that.

00:27:35.263 --> 00:27:36.064
And then when I did

00:27:36.297 --> 00:27:36.547
You feel

00:27:36.592 --> 00:27:38.011
it, I was a wreck.

00:27:38.507 --> 00:27:39.057
Oh yeah.

00:27:39.362 --> 00:27:42.951
Like I grew up most in college my mom would always tell me like, yeah, once you get your degree, you'd be set.

00:27:43.051 --> 00:27:43.342
Shoot.

00:27:43.342 --> 00:27:45.692
I wish that was true, but blamed myself for it.

00:27:45.711 --> 00:27:47.291
Cause I always felt like I did something wrong.

00:27:47.412 --> 00:27:48.162
Exactly.

00:27:48.211 --> 00:27:50.011
Cause it always felt like, what did I do?

00:27:50.011 --> 00:27:53.561
Well, I did everything I was supposed to do and nothing happened.

00:27:53.561 --> 00:27:53.832
Right.

00:27:54.128 --> 00:28:01.704
and now the other thing is why I, part of me kind of resents Leon because there's a part of it where it's like, how much guidance are you providing?

00:28:02.303 --> 00:28:04.542
And someone who wants to follow in your footsteps.

00:28:04.732 --> 00:28:09.393
And so that made me think about like college counselors who will throw false hopes at you.

00:28:09.393 --> 00:28:11.992
You just keep getting, you'll get it eventually and things like that.

00:28:12.252 --> 00:28:14.083
But in actuality, it's not like that.

00:28:14.398 --> 00:28:20.343
And I really would have liked a heads up before hitting a huge pitfall blindly.

00:28:20.343 --> 00:28:20.782
If that,

00:28:21.097 --> 00:28:24.438
Sometimes, you know, you can do the right things and stuff still ends up wrong.

00:28:24.448 --> 00:28:25.857
That's just kind of the world we live in.

00:28:26.022 --> 00:28:27.702
yeah, it is, it really is.

00:28:27.702 --> 00:28:31.883
It's like, there is no set formula for how things are supposed to go.

00:28:32.470 --> 00:28:34.730
So how do you view Hop in the Pokemon world now?

00:28:34.730 --> 00:28:37.190
Do you feel like his character arc is justified?

00:28:37.319 --> 00:28:37.910
How it ended?

00:28:37.910 --> 00:28:38.799
Or do you feel like they could have done

00:28:39.404 --> 00:28:43.625
I think it's justified because again, it's a very realistic approach.

00:28:43.894 --> 00:28:47.454
It's somebody whose main career choice did not work out.

00:28:47.784 --> 00:28:50.213
So they deviated into something else that they loved.

00:28:50.513 --> 00:28:53.237
They had to fail in order to figure it out.

00:28:53.586 --> 00:28:56.368
But like, hopped found What he wants to do.

00:28:56.368 --> 00:28:57.538
He found his way out.

00:28:57.709 --> 00:28:59.959
Ironically, it's almost like working in the medical field.

00:29:00.009 --> 00:29:02.209
It's like, I want to do this, but I can't do this.

00:29:02.328 --> 00:29:03.048
Let me find something else.

00:29:03.239 --> 00:29:06.528
And so he eventually runs into the path of being a Pokemon professor.

00:29:06.538 --> 00:29:20.288
He has a future that is obtainable and which even though it was the icing on the cake, isn't this what I always do personally, you don't have to do this, but the Galarian Star Tournament, I always pick him as my partner because it's like a way of giving him that feeling of victory.

00:29:20.618 --> 00:29:30.565
So as someone whose initial plan didn't fall through and didn't have a realistic approach to something eventually found their passion and something else was able to move forward with those plans.

00:29:31.012 --> 00:29:38.883
Which is one of the reasons why I think that when he was like first introduced, a lot of people didn't like him because they don't think they realized it or not, but We were all hobbit once.

00:29:39.128 --> 00:29:44.088
We were all shrouded in blind optimism that things were going to immediately go off the same way at times.

00:29:44.308 --> 00:29:47.989
Remember when Sword and Shield was in the middle of the pandemic, that's when lives were falling apart.

00:29:48.203 --> 00:29:48.963
exactly.

00:29:48.963 --> 00:29:49.334
Yeah.

00:29:49.409 --> 00:29:52.169
And so we were all like, how is Hop thinking like this?

00:29:52.378 --> 00:29:53.898
Because like, we were just in that phase.

00:29:53.898 --> 00:29:55.608
We weren't in that phase to not too long ago.

00:29:55.858 --> 00:29:56.689
We were Hop.

00:29:56.722 --> 00:29:57.222
we were him.

00:29:57.526 --> 00:30:00.826
We were in that phase not too long ago, which is why we're all angry at it.

00:30:01.431 --> 00:30:04.391
You've been listening to As the Pokeball Turns.

00:30:04.709 --> 00:30:06.108
We're going to take a quick break.

00:30:06.417 --> 00:30:07.498
We'll be right back.

00:30:46.838 --> 00:30:48.358
Let's talk about your experience with Pokemon go.

00:30:48.358 --> 00:30:50.638
So when did you first start playing Pokemon go?

00:30:50.868 --> 00:30:53.179
I played Pokemon Go the day after it was introduced.

00:30:53.179 --> 00:30:53.753
Cause I didn't like Pokemon.

00:30:53.923 --> 00:31:01.023
Keep an update on the notes, but playing it ever since the game came out, it was like an answer to a dream that I've always wanted.

00:31:01.023 --> 00:31:03.963
I always had a fantasy of Pokemon being real, Pokemon being real.

00:31:04.144 --> 00:31:07.102
And I was like with this little outlet, we just got a little closer.

00:31:07.301 --> 00:31:11.933
And so I had a friend and we would Go on adventures and hunt Pokemon all over.

00:31:12.163 --> 00:31:13.423
We would stop at churches.

00:31:13.423 --> 00:31:15.763
Churches are a big thing because there's always a gym in church.

00:31:16.513 --> 00:31:22.433
were like, we were staking out at churches because this is when the game started, we didn't have much competition back then.

00:31:22.723 --> 00:31:28.564
And so we were staking out, fighting gyms, and churches get a communities also funny.

00:31:28.753 --> 00:31:33.324
I have a horrible sense of direction So when I was off by myself, I was a wreck.

00:31:33.354 --> 00:31:36.624
I couldn't find I would just get lost We're getting lost in eternity.

00:31:36.624 --> 00:31:45.446
Like there was no route maps or anything I was horrible with direction and so I would just wander Pokemon It's also the reason why I had a curfew because I would stay out too late

00:31:45.862 --> 00:31:46.271
Really?

00:31:46.271 --> 00:31:47.741
So how long, how late would you stay out?

00:31:48.054 --> 00:31:52.919
past 11 midnight almost 1 in the morning Was no joke for me.

00:31:52.919 --> 00:31:55.348
I was always adamant about playing it.

00:31:55.618 --> 00:31:58.048
it was, it's a, it was a really big thing for me.

00:31:58.346 --> 00:31:59.246
I enjoyed it.

00:31:59.486 --> 00:32:01.915
And even now, still play to this day.

00:32:01.915 --> 00:32:03.895
And I play with my coworkers as well.

00:32:04.185 --> 00:32:07.086
What I'm wanting to branch off and do is I'm expanding a little more.

00:32:07.086 --> 00:32:16.846
I know Pokemon Go has like an app where like you can like meet up with a group of people and so I'm probably gonna start meeting up with like the metropolitan people like the parks, whatever, so I can make more friends in the game.

00:32:16.846 --> 00:32:19.605
I'm wanting to expand the reach of the horizon.

00:32:20.200 --> 00:32:20.769
That's great.

00:32:20.769 --> 00:32:22.569
So how do you like to play Pokemon go?

00:32:23.130 --> 00:32:23.640
two different times.

00:32:23.650 --> 00:32:27.509
So I like to, one is, um, when I'm like, I'm working, I'm a busy person.

00:32:27.769 --> 00:32:29.420
And so a lot of times I have to sit, have to squat.

00:32:29.420 --> 00:32:33.140
And so I'm like, okay, I'll catch all the Pokemon I can't run into, try to complete as many research tasks.

00:32:33.359 --> 00:32:34.039
I'm on the go.

00:32:34.040 --> 00:32:39.190
When I'm on the go and I'm like moving, like I'm on a train, I'm trying to catch all the Pokestops trying to stock up.

00:32:39.191 --> 00:32:40.529
Like it's like my stocking period.

00:32:40.839 --> 00:32:42.759
And then there are days where like, okay, you know what?

00:32:42.779 --> 00:32:44.920
We're going to dedicate like a day to playing this game.

00:32:45.240 --> 00:33:00.380
I wanna go out, wanna do things, so like I'll take myself out on a date, but there's always Pokemon Go within the reach of said date, especially whenever I'm going to a new place that I've never before, I like to collect the little Pokestops and those Aces that I probably won't visit frequently, I think it's like, it's a pretty fun thing for me.

00:33:00.958 --> 00:33:03.557
So say like you go to a new place, you'll collect like postcards,

00:33:04.127 --> 00:33:09.464
Postcards, Pokemon as well because, there was a time before it was, the early days of Pokemon Go.

00:33:09.704 --> 00:33:15.974
It was very regionally focused, like, I mean, highly regionally focused because, I remember the same year Pokemon Go came out.

00:33:15.980 --> 00:33:17.115
I actually graduated from high school.

00:33:17.425 --> 00:33:22.413
And my graduation gift, my uncle let me visit him in California.

00:33:22.594 --> 00:33:24.513
I have never seen so many fire types in my life.

00:33:24.574 --> 00:33:25.868
I said, this is where they've all been.

00:33:27.108 --> 00:33:28.648
Starving like I've been starving.

00:33:28.659 --> 00:33:59.196
I was like on a fire hunt fire type hunting spree It's like i'll never see these again because in windy city They did a really funny job because like chicago was just rivers So you run with a lot of water types and iced flying types and we have the piers like I can always know where my steel Types are which is also a pretty fun thing I had like a mapped out where all the pokemon was if I wanted to go to a steel type I visit navy pier because the pier for whatever reason is where all the steel types would congregate And so along the rivers and the boardwalks, I'm guaranteed to find a water type,

00:33:59.801 --> 00:34:02.172
I know a shiny hunter in the main series games.

00:34:02.192 --> 00:34:03.961
Do you shiny hunt in Pokemon Go as well?

00:34:04.297 --> 00:34:08.456
Heck yeah, I think Pokemon Go is a main series game in my personal opinion

00:34:08.786 --> 00:34:09.797
Oh, sassy take.

00:34:09.797 --> 00:34:09.967
Let's

00:34:10.427 --> 00:34:16.123
because of its connection and recently, Professor Willow actually had an appearance in the anime as well.

00:34:16.443 --> 00:34:19.436
it's one of those things where it's like Pokemon Home is that bridge.

00:34:19.496 --> 00:34:22.336
And so the moment these Pokemon are coming in here, it's fair game.

00:34:22.686 --> 00:34:24.166
It's just the play style is different.

00:34:24.507 --> 00:34:29.907
it's like pokemon coordinators versus regular gym battles It's just the way we battle is different.

00:34:30.514 --> 00:34:33.416
So, you said you made your own, region out of Chicago?

00:34:33.791 --> 00:34:34.130
Yes.

00:34:34.181 --> 00:34:37.990
Currently in the making, but, yes, I'm making is a Pokemon region based on Chicago.

00:34:38.686 --> 00:34:41.516
Let's talk about the starters.

00:34:41.840 --> 00:34:44.739
what are the three starters that you have in mind for Chicago?

00:34:45.125 --> 00:34:51.157
So starters, so far I have basically a grass possum I've named Grossom, which, it's a, um, hidden ability.

00:34:51.226 --> 00:34:54.786
It plays on the gimmick of it falling asleep and still being able to fight.

00:34:55.088 --> 00:34:57.148
And like, an astral projection kind of thing.

00:34:57.398 --> 00:34:59.157
It's almost like a sleep, talk kind of thing.

00:34:59.443 --> 00:34:59.833
different.

00:34:59.844 --> 00:35:05.206
So it's status is sleep, but it's still active and it's typing changes from grass to Grass/Ghost.

00:35:06.039 --> 00:35:06.920
Ooh,

00:35:07.041 --> 00:35:11.061
and so sleeping does not inhibit its ability to fight.

00:35:11.302 --> 00:35:14.027
So now with a sleep status, it gains a new attack.

00:35:14.027 --> 00:35:15.777
which adds a different layer strategies,

00:35:16.193 --> 00:35:16.822
I like it.

00:35:17.117 --> 00:35:17.916
what are the other two?

00:35:18.038 --> 00:35:19.088
actually it'll be four

00:35:19.413 --> 00:35:20.253
Oh, there will be four?

00:35:20.521 --> 00:35:20.992
at a before.

00:35:20.992 --> 00:35:21.112
Yeah.

00:35:21.112 --> 00:35:26.431
So I read doing the way, a lot of Pokemon in my personal opinion needed a long update.

00:35:26.431 --> 00:35:28.791
And so I made some changes with the typing as well.

00:35:29.001 --> 00:35:31.751
I've also recognized that electric type is like a four starter.

00:35:32.061 --> 00:35:38.302
And so, what I have is, I'm still working on remaking them because I'm basing them off of superheroes.

00:35:38.782 --> 00:35:41.672
That's the theme of the game together, the theme of the region is superheroes.

00:35:42.382 --> 00:35:44.875
so, another, one is, basically a snow owl.

00:35:44.885 --> 00:35:48.434
Which every so often, it's a rare occurrence, but in the wintertime it gets a pretty fierce winter.

00:35:48.434 --> 00:35:50.905
It's not this one, it's not a good example of our, current state.

00:35:50.905 --> 00:35:52.704
Usually we'll have a lot worse winters.

00:35:52.704 --> 00:35:53.614
We've been pretty blessed.

00:35:54.034 --> 00:35:54.983
But, it's a snow owl.

00:35:54.983 --> 00:35:57.184
It's a snow owl, but I'm calling it now.

00:35:57.224 --> 00:36:02.902
So like an hour of knowledge and it will basically get an hour glasses.

00:36:02.911 --> 00:36:07.882
That's like the silly little gimmick and it'll eventually evolve into its own little signature superhero.

00:36:08.135 --> 00:36:10.514
another one I'm still working on, but it's a skunk.

00:36:10.585 --> 00:36:15.755
I call it a perfume, which is basically because I don't see skunk Pokemon's too often.

00:36:15.755 --> 00:36:17.014
And so this one uses perfume.

00:36:17.014 --> 00:36:20.824
the fumes from the flames that it bodies and create as like a noxious gas.

00:36:21.094 --> 00:36:22.164
So it plays on the difference.

00:36:22.284 --> 00:36:23.894
It's going to be like a fire poison type.

00:36:24.188 --> 00:36:27.143
So, I remember that because I looked on your Instagram, looking at your art.

00:36:27.353 --> 00:36:28.402
I love Snau.

00:36:28.463 --> 00:36:30.882
I love the design because it looks like a little, Eskimo.

00:36:31.182 --> 00:36:36.052
that design for SNOW will actually change because, it went through a different idea for a different direction.

00:36:36.213 --> 00:36:41.963
And, um, so I haven't released that design yet because I also haven't made the design yet, that's expected to change.

00:36:41.963 --> 00:36:50.737
So right now, currently the only one that like exists in physical form that makes sense right now is, Grossom and Furfume, those two base designs won't change.

00:36:51.358 --> 00:36:54.706
So I know that you like to make fake Pokemon, you know, you're making a fake region.

00:36:54.717 --> 00:36:56.277
What made you want to start doing this?

00:36:56.547 --> 00:37:03.565
I remember seeing, art of trainers or people who have made, I call them trainers, I've called everyone trainers, of their own mods, their own regions.

00:37:04.036 --> 00:37:06.565
And I just remember, like, just having so much fun doing it.

00:37:06.565 --> 00:37:08.715
And then eventually, I just started doing it.

00:37:08.746 --> 00:37:20.193
And I said, what if Q, if I could, like, Make people believe that this is a fake mod And so I created my very first fake mod based off my favorite dessert, which is a root beer float and root beer was born And root Beer.

00:37:20.213 --> 00:37:21.603
has root beer.

00:37:21.603 --> 00:37:22.373
Yeah, it's become

00:37:22.777 --> 00:37:22.887
it.

00:37:23.563 --> 00:37:28.563
the mascot of my everything like you can probably find it on my social media pages.

00:37:28.822 --> 00:37:33.579
I even made like Fake Pokemon cards were the root bear design on it as well.

00:37:33.889 --> 00:37:35.050
and that's what started it all.

00:37:35.400 --> 00:37:36.909
And it got a lot of traction.

00:37:36.980 --> 00:37:37.949
And it's like, you know what?

00:37:38.179 --> 00:37:39.320
I'm sure I can keep doing this.

00:37:39.619 --> 00:37:41.039
And then I kept doing it.

00:37:41.119 --> 00:37:42.190
And then I kept doing it.

00:37:42.539 --> 00:37:45.199
And eventually I was like, what if I took things further?

00:37:45.460 --> 00:37:50.923
Cause I went to school for game design and still looking for a, like the perfect outlet to just make it happen.

00:37:50.923 --> 00:37:55.164
Cause you know, job marketing gets kind of funky And that's what led to.

00:37:55.197 --> 00:38:01.476
Me moving further and now I'm a part of a community where I have fellow creators and I'm learning and watching their design.

00:38:01.505 --> 00:38:09.630
It's like, wow, I first I felt like I was just all by myself in a bubble, not entirely isolated, but I didn't have everybody around my way doing it.

00:38:09.641 --> 00:38:13.550
But then eventually I'm finding people who live in the same city as me sharing the same interest.

00:38:13.731 --> 00:38:14.481
Hello.

00:38:14.963 --> 00:38:23.043
Crazy because I incorporated fake mon are into my stream because I streamed Pokemon games and then she said my fellow streaming peers They all like that like them.

00:38:23.043 --> 00:38:24.342
Okay, let's do more of it.

00:38:24.552 --> 00:38:27.753
And that just became my known thing It's just what I do.

00:38:28.090 --> 00:38:31.391
And I was like, I want to reach people but I also need to reach myself.

00:38:31.711 --> 00:38:35.751
I went back to the origin the foundation where everything started pokemon.

00:38:36.054 --> 00:38:39.438
Pokemon is where everything started and I just took it to my art.

00:38:39.469 --> 00:38:41.548
I just focused on just being happy for once.

00:38:41.858 --> 00:38:44.228
And in my happiness, I have found friends.

00:38:44.538 --> 00:38:46.606
I have made communities.

00:38:46.827 --> 00:38:48.226
I have joined communities.

00:38:48.306 --> 00:38:50.677
I am in a really good spot with it

00:38:51.007 --> 00:38:51.527
That's awesome.

00:38:51.527 --> 00:38:55.277
And it all came from just the love of Pokemon to where it expands into y'all make your own Pokemon.

00:38:55.507 --> 00:38:59.887
You have the actual real people who play the real Pokemon games and that's kind of a cool way to build a network.

00:39:00.201 --> 00:39:13.960
It's like I joined pokemon fake my community in general because there was always an issue where it was like Pokemon, I know can't appease everybody at all the times, but sometimes I just want to see Myself.

00:39:14.561 --> 00:39:16.161
Well, Lokemon, you've been a wonderful guest.

00:39:16.181 --> 00:39:19.367
I have one last segment I want to do before we end the show.

00:39:20.126 --> 00:39:23.146
So you said you have a very active imagination.

00:39:23.445 --> 00:39:24.356
As do I.

00:39:24.726 --> 00:39:27.206
So I kind of want to do a world building exercise.

00:39:27.226 --> 00:39:31.572
to where we build eight gyms and elite four and a champion together.

00:39:31.876 --> 00:39:33.371
Okay All right.

00:39:33.461 --> 00:39:34.112
I'm ready for it.

00:39:34.112 --> 00:39:34.831
Let's go

00:39:34.942 --> 00:39:36.731
So we're going to take turns on gyms.

00:39:36.762 --> 00:39:38.181
So I'll let do the first gym.

00:39:38.181 --> 00:39:38.931
Then I'll do second.

00:39:38.931 --> 00:39:40.242
And we'll keep doing that through eight.

00:39:40.561 --> 00:39:44.331
you can get as detailed as you'd like, or if you just want to do the teams, whatever have you.

00:39:44.639 --> 00:39:45.039
Okay,

00:39:45.344 --> 00:39:45.614
All right.

00:39:45.614 --> 00:39:46.954
So I'm gonna let you make the first gym.

00:39:47.266 --> 00:39:47.606
all right.

00:39:47.856 --> 00:39:48.949
I want the first gem.

00:39:48.949 --> 00:39:50.255
This is gonna be wild.

00:39:50.306 --> 00:39:51.956
The first gem, let's make it a ghost type.

00:39:52.253 --> 00:39:53.001
Ooh.

00:39:53.369 --> 00:39:56.009
I want the book puzzles in themselves.

00:39:56.119 --> 00:39:57.891
The books that you read are puzzles.

00:39:57.972 --> 00:40:00.222
Kind of like Lenora's gym in Gen 5.

00:40:00.722 --> 00:40:03.061
Where you read the books and it opens a secret passageway.

00:40:03.391 --> 00:40:04.532
it's like a school.

00:40:04.731 --> 00:40:05.791
It's an abandoned school.

00:40:06.186 --> 00:40:18.907
It's a school teacher who works as a librarian in an abandoned school, and so they converted the school into a gym leader so that it can keep standing, and so that people can keep learning about the world around them, regardless of how impoverished the community has become.

00:40:19.536 --> 00:40:20.726
Oh, wow.

00:40:20.856 --> 00:40:21.197
Dang.

00:40:21.206 --> 00:40:22.467
You got some detail there.

00:40:22.467 --> 00:40:23.637
I got my work cut out for me.

00:40:24.043 --> 00:40:25.594
So I'm going to make the second gym.

00:40:25.918 --> 00:40:28.047
I'm going to make a normal gym.

00:40:28.472 --> 00:40:29.773
I think that'd be a good second gem.

00:40:30.054 --> 00:40:32.184
but it's going to be a wedding planner.

00:40:32.485 --> 00:40:37.545
So it's going to be a double battle to where they'll have two opposite kind of Pokemon who kind of go back and back.

00:40:37.545 --> 00:40:39.326
So you think of, say Meowth and Delcatty.

00:40:39.326 --> 00:40:40.706
Skitty would be Evolved.

00:40:41.126 --> 00:40:42.956
And then the second one would be a dog.

00:40:42.956 --> 00:40:46.077
So it's going to be, I think, Herdier is the Evolved form of Lillipup, right?

00:40:46.521 --> 00:40:46.532
Mm

00:40:47.306 --> 00:40:51.846
it's going to be Herdier and then another canine that's normal type.

00:40:52.166 --> 00:40:53.536
Is there another normal canine?

00:40:53.940 --> 00:40:55.690
Um, so you're working with Furfrou.

00:40:55.983 --> 00:40:59.132
Yeah, so we'll do, uh, yeah, we'll do Furfrou.

00:40:59.132 --> 00:40:59.182
and Herdier.

00:40:59.182 --> 00:41:01.012
It'll be double battles for the normal gym.

00:41:01.606 --> 00:41:01.726
Okay.

00:41:01.726 --> 00:41:07.766
Third, um, also fun fact, you should know that like, we don't have elite four typings for normal electric or fairy.

00:41:08.068 --> 00:41:09.757
Ooh, we might see that change potentially.

00:41:10.012 --> 00:41:10.322
I know.

00:41:10.322 --> 00:41:10.623
Right.

00:41:10.902 --> 00:41:11.273
Okay.

00:41:11.512 --> 00:41:18.681
So, um, I would like to start off because I'm like we always start with our traditional type freeze What if we did like in like a random order?

00:41:18.681 --> 00:41:20.030
So we did ghost normal.

00:41:20.320 --> 00:41:33.414
Okay, so ghost normal then I guess you know fighting Let's do and we'll make it like a zumbo like a peloton gym and it's maybe like a fitness community center run by like a gym teacher.

00:41:33.414 --> 00:41:40.077
Yeah like an Olympic athlete who's now like a retired person and now they run like a little gym or even like a boxing gym.

00:41:40.088 --> 00:41:41.117
What's like a boxing gym?

00:41:41.128 --> 00:41:42.547
I don't get to see those too often.

00:41:42.777 --> 00:41:44.608
Like something you would see in like Apollo Creed

00:41:44.987 --> 00:41:49.018
Cause think the only, I think the only a boxing one would have been from, um, that at that elite four member.

00:41:49.018 --> 00:41:49.277
Right.

00:41:49.327 --> 00:41:50.938
I don't think not been really a boxing.

00:41:51.237 --> 00:41:53.148
Precisely, it's like a self defense place.

00:41:53.177 --> 00:42:02.697
Like it teaches community members and their Pokemon self defense, more geared towards the elderly or beginners, but like a good way to teach people self defense and doubles as a gym.

00:42:02.994 --> 00:42:03.364
Okay.

00:42:03.385 --> 00:42:09.545
need, cause you need funding, but, um, of course I'm going to have like a Machamp.

00:42:09.574 --> 00:42:13.125
A Machamp and a Machoke., I think I'm a chop and I'm a champ.

00:42:13.394 --> 00:42:23.740
Those two pretty good standard for a light year load of fighting, grapple lock because grapple lock is good for submission techniques and something that people can learn in their day to day life also helps them out as well.

00:42:24.074 --> 00:42:37.800
I'm thinking with those three are pretty solid, maybe even a, uh, let's see, Hip on top because Capoeira is very fun and also a pretty accessible fighting style.

00:42:38.106 --> 00:42:39.436
And let's see here.

00:42:39.465 --> 00:42:42.409
So there's Capoeira, Submission takedowns, regular boxing.

00:42:42.409 --> 00:42:43.900
So Hitmonchamp for boxing.

00:42:43.900 --> 00:42:44.300
As well.

00:42:44.300 --> 00:42:46.250
Cause boxing is also pretty accessible.

00:42:46.590 --> 00:42:55.476
I'm thinking the puzzle, isn't too hard, but it probably be like trivia, on fighting styles and the names of like moves and things like that.

00:42:55.769 --> 00:43:02.050
And every time you get it right, you hear like the bell and I'll have like the person working on the card question three or question four.

00:43:02.664 --> 00:43:03.755
So it's my turn.

00:43:04.072 --> 00:43:08.342
I'm gonna add a little craziness to this gym, a little too kind to my taste.

00:43:08.913 --> 00:43:10.862
I'm gonna add a poison gym.

00:43:11.182 --> 00:43:25.922
It's run by A very obsessed exterminator who absolutely despises bug Pokemon, like picture, like all the censored signs of bug posters and wanted posters of like bug Pokemon, because he just absolutely hates them.

00:43:26.302 --> 00:43:31.483
And it came from a memory to where he got trapped in a room full of, uh, Weedle stuff like that.

00:43:31.702 --> 00:43:36.143
ever then, he's had an obsession to get rid of any bug Pokemon throughout the entire region.

00:43:36.443 --> 00:43:37.313
It's a poison gym.

00:43:37.313 --> 00:43:41.373
So he goes around and exterminates all the bug Pokemon with the, you know, the poison and stuff like that.

00:43:41.693 --> 00:43:41.813
Oh

00:43:41.833 --> 00:43:44.893
the Pokemon he would use, his Ace is going to be a Skuntank.

00:43:45.083 --> 00:43:48.012
Because Skuntank can also learn Flamethrower, and I think that would be kind of a cool tie in.

00:43:48.313 --> 00:43:50.043
I think Weezing would be a good one.

00:43:50.373 --> 00:43:51.913
Uh, let's see, this would be the fourth gen.

00:43:51.922 --> 00:43:54.972
Nah, it would be a Koffing, because I don't think they'd be level 35.

00:43:55.123 --> 00:43:56.052
So he'll have Koffing.

00:43:56.782 --> 00:44:01.250
He'll have two Koffings, a Skuntank, and one more Poison type Pokemon.

00:44:01.250 --> 00:44:02.570
Who would I want to use?

00:44:02.936 --> 00:44:03.856
There's so many good ones.

00:44:03.856 --> 00:44:04.096
Who would use?

00:44:04.440 --> 00:44:05.949
I think you said wheezing, right?

00:44:06.199 --> 00:44:06.599
Wheezing and

00:44:06.860 --> 00:44:10.420
Well, I didn't think he'd have a Weezing that early on in the game, because this is the fourth gym.

00:44:10.449 --> 00:44:11.159
That is true.

00:44:11.512 --> 00:44:14.432
And he can't have bug poison Pokemon, obviously, because that'd be kind of an oxymoron.

00:44:14.913 --> 00:44:15.983
Trubbish exists.

00:44:16.143 --> 00:44:16.813
Trubbish is there.

00:44:16.853 --> 00:44:17.382
Pretty fun.

00:44:17.652 --> 00:44:18.333
Sweet guy.

00:44:18.882 --> 00:44:20.092
Yeah, we haven't seen Trubbish too much.

00:44:20.152 --> 00:44:22.202
Does it evolve to Garbodor around level 30?

00:44:22.612 --> 00:44:23.422
So it'll be Gardevoir.

00:44:23.452 --> 00:44:24.713
That'll be his ace, Garbodor.

00:44:24.753 --> 00:44:28.043
No, Skuntank's gonna be the ace, Garbodor will be the second one, then he'll have just two Koffings.

00:44:29.389 --> 00:44:29.840
is real

00:44:32.005 --> 00:44:32.715
Exactly.

00:44:33.717 --> 00:44:34.947
All right, around the 5th gym.

00:44:35.382 --> 00:44:35.592
gym.

00:44:35.623 --> 00:44:35.983
Okay.

00:44:35.983 --> 00:44:38.472
to spite your, gym, I'm

00:44:40.527 --> 00:44:41.007
all right.

00:44:43.887 --> 00:44:44.307
locked.

00:44:47.097 --> 00:44:55.228
Make bug type Jim.

00:44:55.228 --> 00:44:55.737
fun fact.

00:44:55.827 --> 00:45:05.588
did you know that, The concept for the algorithm was created by studying the thought process of ants because ants function in a way that like Checks and balances of like, okay, that doesn't work do that.

00:45:05.588 --> 00:45:08.217
That's where I do that So our algorithm is based on insects.

00:45:08.717 --> 00:45:12.695
And so what if this Was an internet game cafe.

00:45:12.724 --> 00:45:14.125
Let's think of an internet game

00:45:15.110 --> 00:45:15.300
that's

00:45:15.894 --> 00:45:19.514
Well plays on but it also doubles as a tech support station.

00:45:19.815 --> 00:45:22.632
And so they handle bugs and computers

00:45:23.047 --> 00:45:24.916
The literal wide web basically.

00:45:25.067 --> 00:45:25.677
Exactly.

00:45:25.686 --> 00:45:28.027
Your gym challenge will be one of two things.

00:45:28.246 --> 00:45:32.536
A little bit of a social media management thing where you have to like, find a post and information.

00:45:32.766 --> 00:45:42.867
This will, this will be the test and people in a lot of days, they'll probably suffer from this, but this will test their media literacy, being able to comprehend whether actually looking on the internet, because you've got to teach life skills to people.

00:45:43.206 --> 00:45:49.867
And it will also, Double in like, you'll have to like learn a little bit of coding, do some baby coding in the gym challenge.

00:45:50.166 --> 00:45:55.686
And to get the bug type Pokemon, the gym, the ACE, Vickavolt or Vickavolt.

00:45:55.766 --> 00:45:56.606
ACE is Vickavolt.

00:45:56.686 --> 00:45:57.827
Definitely has to be that.

00:45:58.126 --> 00:46:00.690
Orbeetle, definitely Orbeetle will be, another play on it.

00:46:00.690 --> 00:46:03.920
especially cause the bugs, I get the bug electric mixing things around.

00:46:04.266 --> 00:46:07.210
Durant, Definitely a Durant, sturdy bug.

00:46:07.737 --> 00:46:10.007
Volcarona to represent like firewall.

00:46:10.300 --> 00:46:13.469
But yeah, internet, coding, space, cafe, all that jazz.

00:46:14.148 --> 00:46:16.458
So we're on the sixth gym leader.

00:46:17.009 --> 00:46:21.099
I'm gonna go with a zookeeper for the sixth gym.

00:46:22.262 --> 00:46:26.231
He's a water focused gym and he likes to have turtle Pokemon.

00:46:27.552 --> 00:46:29.302
There's plenty of that to go around.

00:46:29.362 --> 00:46:32.411
kind of why I want to do that because I feel like that that's a possibility.

00:46:32.411 --> 00:46:35.632
So think of Blastoise, that'll be the ace obviously.

00:46:35.871 --> 00:46:37.521
He'll have Lapras because just the shell.

00:46:37.521 --> 00:46:39.222
I know it's not a turtle but it's a cousin.

00:46:39.568 --> 00:46:40.259
Karakosta.

00:46:40.297 --> 00:46:41.547
And then Drednaw.

00:46:41.807 --> 00:46:44.157
Those would be the four Pokemon that he would use.

00:46:44.463 --> 00:46:45.393
Just straight turtles.

00:46:45.719 --> 00:46:46.789
Just all turtles.

00:46:47.333 --> 00:46:50.224
And then to get around the gym you have to hop on the turtle shells.

00:46:50.498 --> 00:46:51.599
Oh, that would be cool.

00:46:51.599 --> 00:46:52.798
Like turtle surfing.

00:46:52.983 --> 00:46:58.105
so it's like a little, uh, I know it's not a koi pond, but it's like a little pond and then you just have to use the turtle shells to get around.

00:46:58.625 --> 00:46:59.664
That's so cute.

00:46:59.664 --> 00:47:00.215
I can see it.

00:47:00.414 --> 00:47:01.764
You're like little pond skipping.

00:47:01.764 --> 00:47:04.184
Oh my gosh, so much fun

00:47:04.525 --> 00:47:05.664
Okay, we're on the seventh gym.

00:47:05.894 --> 00:47:28.702
seven gym, okay let's make it flying type and the gym is kind of reminiscent of skyless gym, but a little bit less acrobatic more like indoor skydiving And so the gym challenge is You have to like hit targets as you drop you like those little games you fly from the sky You gotta match fall into the rings of each of the ones It'll be like that reach the catch the rings before you like plummet.

00:47:28.998 --> 00:47:33.068
I'm thinking a flying type, Pokemon Hawlucha, that's a good one.

00:47:33.518 --> 00:47:36.179
Like they do it, like they're always doing a little dive press.

00:47:36.572 --> 00:47:38.972
some other ones for a good one, Altaria.

00:47:39.027 --> 00:47:39.882
And Skarmory.

00:47:40.284 --> 00:47:41.005
Noivern.

00:47:41.034 --> 00:47:42.143
Mix things up a bit.

00:47:42.583 --> 00:47:44.161
Sigilyph as well.

00:47:44.456 --> 00:47:51.737
I like the idea of just having a versatile mix of flying types, like nothing's consistent about it, and it's just all free.

00:47:52.045 --> 00:47:52.936
Anything else besides that?

00:47:53.251 --> 00:47:54.891
I'm trying to think of a good ace.

00:47:55.030 --> 00:47:56.061
I'm thinking a Dragonite.

00:47:56.130 --> 00:47:57.581
I'm just, just throwing a Dragonite.

00:47:58.190 --> 00:47:59.990
Ooh, man, making it challenging for the player.

00:48:00.981 --> 00:48:01.630
Of course.

00:48:01.701 --> 00:48:04.771
Like, it's about the thrill, and that's what like, this gem really is.

00:48:04.771 --> 00:48:07.771
So it's like, you're dealing with a wild mix of Pokemon.

00:48:08.041 --> 00:48:08.931
It's the thrill.

00:48:08.931 --> 00:48:09.951
The thrill of the sky.

00:48:10.554 --> 00:48:11.994
I have the 8th gym.

00:48:12.494 --> 00:48:13.295
And it's a doozy.

00:48:13.597 --> 00:48:21.378
So it's gonna be somebody who lost to the champion and became so obsessed that he got really into chat GBT AI.

00:48:21.597 --> 00:48:22.737
Oh my goodness.

00:48:22.987 --> 00:48:29.318
Yeah, so like you walk in there's just a random screen and it's just chat GPT.

00:48:29.318 --> 00:48:32.690
AI got so advanced that there's not even real life trainers anymore.

00:48:32.690 --> 00:48:35.927
There's just robots and they follow whatever the script is.

00:48:35.927 --> 00:48:37.077
You know how that works, right?

00:48:37.637 --> 00:48:40.478
And it's like a very, you know, techie kind of place.

00:48:40.478 --> 00:48:43.577
You got the little green lights going around cause you know, it's sciencey or whatever.

00:48:43.577 --> 00:48:44.527
like almost like a lab.

00:48:44.860 --> 00:48:50.300
you walk your way through the maze, similar to how the first gym was Giovanni, but you add like more, you know, walls to get through.

00:48:50.300 --> 00:48:57.755
And then each time you run into area, you've ran into just a random AI generated employee or whatever and the gym is going to be steel type, by the way.

00:48:58.050 --> 00:48:58.570
Oh.

00:48:58.873 --> 00:49:03.353
So you walk through and then all the way to the end, there's nobody there or it's pitch black.

00:49:03.432 --> 00:49:07.632
And then all of a sudden the light comes on and there's nobody, it's just a screen of a face.

00:49:07.672 --> 00:49:08.693
And it's just AI.

00:49:08.989 --> 00:49:11.019
And then they throw in the Pokemon Steel types.

00:49:11.480 --> 00:49:14.559
I'm trying to not make it too broken, but it's kind of hard because Steel type is just so good.

00:49:14.804 --> 00:49:15.025
Yeah.

00:49:15.630 --> 00:49:16.230
It's kind of hard.

00:49:16.230 --> 00:49:18.539
So, Magneton, uh, I threw in Magneton.

00:49:19.130 --> 00:49:19.989
It's going to have Eviolite.

00:49:20.326 --> 00:49:22.170
I'm going to do Revirum.

00:49:22.516 --> 00:49:24.699
And then I'm going to do Skarmory.

00:49:25.023 --> 00:49:26.163
Aegislash would be the Ace.

00:49:26.474 --> 00:49:28.014
And then I want one more.

00:49:28.014 --> 00:49:30.771
And I'm thinking I don't want to do Probopass.

00:49:30.771 --> 00:49:31.581
That's too much.

00:49:32.164 --> 00:49:32.914
Dang, that is tough.

00:49:33.005 --> 00:49:33.905
I'll do Metagross.

00:49:34.235 --> 00:49:35.534
I'll throw Metagross in there as well.

00:49:37.239 --> 00:49:38.650
Yeah, so that's steel type.

00:49:39.019 --> 00:49:39.380
okay.

00:49:39.686 --> 00:49:40.989
So, that was the eighth gym, wasn't it?

00:49:41.969 --> 00:49:43.159
Oh, it's Elite Four time.

00:49:43.349 --> 00:49:44.559
Elite 4 time, yes.

00:49:44.559 --> 00:49:44.949
So get

00:49:45.000 --> 00:49:45.269
okay.

00:49:45.880 --> 00:49:46.179
elite 4.

00:49:46.784 --> 00:49:50.864
So starting off, I'm going to do a grass type cause we've never had one.

00:49:52.715 --> 00:49:55.824
We have a botanist herbalist, all that stuff.

00:49:56.244 --> 00:50:00.114
They, focus on making little boxes in the community that.

00:50:00.164 --> 00:50:08.244
feed people like random foods and you'll find them all throughout the region with like little encouraging notes.

00:50:09.010 --> 00:50:14.489
And you go into their domain and it's a cottage, kind of similar to like Courage the Cowardly Dog.

00:50:14.610 --> 00:50:16.980
And you go inside of the house, plants everywhere.

00:50:17.289 --> 00:50:18.820
It's a little greenhouse.

00:50:19.349 --> 00:50:23.432
It's a mixture of grass and, modern architect.

00:50:23.750 --> 00:50:25.590
And it's just a little old grandma.

00:50:25.980 --> 00:50:27.840
And she makes you tea before a battle.

00:50:28.989 --> 00:50:31.309
gosh, and she's like, oh, would you come for a cup of tea?

00:50:31.630 --> 00:50:31.889
Yes.

00:50:32.480 --> 00:50:36.239
And that's like, she'll heal your Pokemon if you had not healed your Pokemon prior to the Elite Four battle.

00:50:36.704 --> 00:50:41.148
She'll heal your Pokemon too, when you would like to save her cookies before we actually get into the battle.

00:50:41.494 --> 00:50:43.034
And then she's an absolute monster.

00:50:43.034 --> 00:50:43.644
In the battle.

00:50:43.994 --> 00:50:48.284
Her starting Pokemon is a Tropius, cause Pokemon that bears fruit to give people.

00:50:48.775 --> 00:50:52.414
Next one is, a Bombazil, because Snorva has Snorva berries.

00:50:53.340 --> 00:51:00.190
The next one is Torterra, because Torterra and Grotto, they have seeds that grow in their trees that feed other Pokemon.

00:51:00.536 --> 00:51:03.750
So the first three are already like Pokemon of bounty.

00:51:03.840 --> 00:51:05.030
They provide.

00:51:05.619 --> 00:51:08.099
the next one, will probably be Delhmise.

00:51:08.480 --> 00:51:10.659
It'll be like a random Pokemon.

00:51:10.659 --> 00:51:17.592
It's like on her adventures that she's gotten on her timeshare trips and she finds the appeal in the quirky little creepiness of it.

00:51:17.623 --> 00:51:19.590
And honestly, Delmise is dope.

00:51:19.909 --> 00:51:32.076
next Pokemon, I'm thinking a Ferrothorn for competitive reasons, and her, I'm thinking an Appleton, but like, Gmax Appleton, because like an apple pie cause she's grandma.

00:51:32.666 --> 00:51:33.655
So I'll do the second one.

00:51:33.655 --> 00:51:37.795
You do third it's actually, you're going to, you're going to run into him throughout your storyline.

00:51:38.396 --> 00:51:40.885
He's a guy who runs an ice cream truck

00:51:41.311 --> 00:51:41.780
Oh?

00:51:42.545 --> 00:51:48.289
and you meet him in every city and he always offers you ice cream, but then you turned out he's actually Elite Four member.

00:51:48.608 --> 00:51:51.378
And of course, you know, since he's an ice cream truck, it's going to be the ice type.

00:51:51.842 --> 00:51:53.501
So his ace is going to be Vanilluxe.

00:51:54.141 --> 00:51:59.257
he's gonna have Frost Rotom, Glalie, Sandslash, and Jynx, cause Jynx is the helper.

00:51:59.867 --> 00:52:00.487
Okay.

00:52:00.487 --> 00:52:00.547
Bye.

00:52:00.829 --> 00:52:05.309
Will the ice cream choices you pick in the game affect anything in the future.

00:52:06.043 --> 00:52:07.333
Ooh, that's an idea, it could.

00:52:07.648 --> 00:52:09.407
I don't know, that'd be kinda something fun to play with.

00:52:09.710 --> 00:52:12.920
the ice cream choices could be like, the Pokemon that he ends up choosing, maybe?

00:52:13.215 --> 00:52:17.445
or like maybe like the, like, um, maybe like the ace like the last one decides the Ace

00:52:17.764 --> 00:52:19.757
Ooh, that'd be a good idea, See, something like that.

00:52:19.788 --> 00:52:20.557
I don't know what it would be.

00:52:20.557 --> 00:52:25.077
That's too advanced for what we're But something like that, yeah, that'd be kind of cool.

00:52:25.208 --> 00:52:29.240
Because they had a similar thing with, Pokemon Yellow with, the rival which Eevee he'd evolve into.

00:52:29.900 --> 00:52:30.130
Yep.

00:52:30.545 --> 00:52:32.585
Um, is that it for your Elite Four.

00:52:32.704 --> 00:52:34.085
That's it for me for the Ice guy.

00:52:34.335 --> 00:52:34.695
Okay.

00:52:34.695 --> 00:52:34.695
So,

00:52:35.114 --> 00:52:38.954
know he's not too strong, but Ice is hard to compete, competitive anyway, so.

00:52:39.405 --> 00:52:41.414
you know, you, you do what you can.

00:52:41.681 --> 00:52:51.764
I think I'm going to choose an electric type and they will probably be a business person who's also a retired musician or pop star.

00:52:52.110 --> 00:52:57.820
And so they have combined their passion for music with their passion for electrical design.

00:52:58.061 --> 00:53:02.150
And you see, Logos alluding to this person all throughout the game.

00:53:02.150 --> 00:53:10.291
They have their hands in everything that powers through the city, the generators, transportation, and They're always around subtly and surely.

00:53:11.081 --> 00:53:12.210
They run the power plants.

00:53:12.210 --> 00:53:14.454
They found the cities and all of that jazz.

00:53:14.523 --> 00:53:18.793
They're a part of the reason why, everything moves like a well oiled machine.

00:53:19.090 --> 00:53:22.159
And he runs like a little appliance company as well.

00:53:22.340 --> 00:53:24.833
And his team is just all the Rotom forms.

00:53:24.833 --> 00:53:24.860
Yeah.

00:53:25.954 --> 00:53:30.204
but they're, but each of the real time, it's not just like an ordinary fridge or an ordinary washer.

00:53:30.255 --> 00:53:31.724
These are all name brand.

00:53:31.724 --> 00:53:32.585
These are all his stuff.

00:53:32.755 --> 00:53:34.085
These are all his brands.

00:53:34.304 --> 00:53:39.614
each of like his refrigerator or we sell that washer He said a fan and they're rotom fusion friendly.

00:53:39.972 --> 00:53:43.532
Hey, as long as it includes the Dex Rotom from the Alola region, I'm game.

00:53:44.007 --> 00:53:57.472
And here's the thing He does it all and so his ace while his team is full of rotoms his ace I would probably make it like, Toxtricity like the g max form to show that the person was like a pop star and musician at the time.

00:53:58.079 --> 00:54:00.239
So we got the final elite four member.

00:54:00.547 --> 00:54:02.217
I'm trying to think which type I would use.

00:54:02.815 --> 00:54:03.626
Dragon's overdone.

00:54:03.655 --> 00:54:04.626
I don't want to do dragon.

00:54:04.920 --> 00:54:05.891
Yeah.

00:54:05.896 --> 00:54:06.786
Not psychic.

00:54:07.387 --> 00:54:08.708
I'm going to do fire

00:54:08.963 --> 00:54:09.402
Ooh.

00:54:09.628 --> 00:54:11.307
because we need some justice from Flint.

00:54:11.650 --> 00:54:14.929
Or from that catastrophe.

00:54:15.300 --> 00:54:16.590
It'll be a sunny day team.

00:54:16.815 --> 00:54:17.505
not his fault.

00:54:17.525 --> 00:54:19.215
The generation just has no fire types.

00:54:19.250 --> 00:54:20.409
It's Game Freak's fault.

00:54:20.929 --> 00:54:21.980
We gotta better though.

00:54:22.949 --> 00:54:23.750
standards.

00:54:24.885 --> 00:54:26.304
should have been a dual fire type.

00:54:27.045 --> 00:54:30.420
I could see that, So I'm gonna do a fire type gem.

00:54:30.431 --> 00:54:32.331
I'm avoiding Charizard at all costs.

00:54:32.844 --> 00:54:34.923
we'll do Ninetales because it does set up drought.

00:54:35.563 --> 00:54:37.844
We'll do Torkoal as well.

00:54:37.844 --> 00:54:39.773
So that's two drought setup, users.

00:54:40.135 --> 00:54:43.956
I'm going to give Rapidash some love because I think it could run Fire Blast, Solar Beam, and some other stuff.

00:54:43.956 --> 00:54:45.255
I think I'll give Rapidash some love.

00:54:45.315 --> 00:54:46.206
I'll throw it on the team.

00:54:46.521 --> 00:54:47.681
Skullvalian.

00:54:48.431 --> 00:54:49.032
Skullavain.

00:54:49.409 --> 00:54:53.088
And then I'll add in probably Armarouge?

00:54:53.389 --> 00:54:54.739
He'll be the Fire Elite Four.

00:54:55.036 --> 00:54:56.445
And add my friend as a region.

00:54:58.065 --> 00:54:58.536
I like it.

00:54:58.545 --> 00:54:59.646
And you'll be the champion.

00:54:59.646 --> 00:55:00.268
ha

00:55:00.365 --> 00:55:00.815
wow.

00:55:01.155 --> 00:55:03.896
I'm glad I didn't choose fairy cause I was like, Ooh, ran out of Pokemon.

00:55:04.132 --> 00:55:05.532
Either that or you can use the other team.

00:55:05.856 --> 00:55:06.025
Oh, wait.

00:55:06.076 --> 00:55:07.215
Should I pick the Pokemon for

00:55:07.498 --> 00:55:08.978
No, because you picked him at the start of the

00:55:09.389 --> 00:55:12.728
Oh, oh, It

00:55:13.028 --> 00:55:16.945
ha ha ha ha ha! Lokemon that is a show.

00:55:16.956 --> 00:55:19.922

00:55:35.706 --> 00:55:38.306
As well as Twitch, Lokamon34, or iStream.

00:55:38.686 --> 00:55:40.617
Looking to expand more into YouTube.

00:55:40.646 --> 00:55:43.697
So be sure to get to that in the future, taking my time with that.
